How To Find True Balance

I was travelling throughout Bali on our way to a cafe driving on a scooter, and infront of us was a man driving a scooter with a 6 foot ladder attached to the back of it. I looked at it and I thought... Gee that guy knows how to balance. A few minutes later, another man pulled up beside us (and I kid you not) he had about 60 towels stacked infront of him, behind him & all around him. I again thought... that guy must really know how to balance.

In that moment, I was reminded of how Bali has done nothing but taught me how to find true balance.

Moving to Bali, we have had more hands on support, our structure and routine has completely changed and given us more time freedom than we ever thought we'd have and I've simply found the art in balancing the juggle (especially with a toddler and a baby).

Balance is important in life because without it, we run ourselves into the ground, work so hard we hit burnout which leads to stress on our body, showing up as all kinds of fun sicknesses and illnesses.

The ancient Chinese concept teaches that everything in life exists in balance – between two opposite forces such as hot and cold, light and dark, or male and female. It also suggests that when one force becomes too dominant, then harmony is disrupted.

And so understanding this, helps you to understand that with highs come lows and with lows come highs, if we have a really big win then we need to give ourselves the space and grace to slow it down and retreat otherwise the universe will make sure you do.

Now this doesn't mean that if you're having a great life, then soon things will come to shit, but referring to the ancient chinese concept, what it is saying is that if you live for too long with one being too dominant THEN harmony can be distrupted. Low for too long - you feel depressed, anxious etc. Too high for too long - you get bored, and it can lead to all unhealthy things.

Having children is a whole different ball game with anything, but kids or not, this is how I've created a healthy balance in my life.

CHANNELED IN & APPROVED

1. Book time in advance, to rest

If I know I have something really big coming up that will take a lot of my enery, for example a business retreat where there will be a lot of people that I'll be connecting with, or it could be as simple as a big day out with the family travelling around the island. Then I make sure that I always book out time after that event to rest. If I've come from a big retreat where I've learnt so much from, then I'll book a day or two off after it instead of telling myself that I'll continue to go go go.

So first lesson - plan your energy taking days ahead and give yourself space to rest.

2. Create Boundaries

This is one that a lot of people talk about and not enough people do, and thats to have very solid boundaries. If you say yes to everything, you aren't allowing space for nothing. Having space for nothing is important because it creates space for creativity and flow. It also is a form of self-respect for yourself. You cannot pour from an empty cup and therefore you must give back to yourself by being ok to say no to situations that you don't want to be in, or events that aren't aligned with your energy. Have boundaries, they are healthy and they are necessary to create balance in your life.

3. Meditate

Meditation has truly saved my life. If you're someone who isn't great at meditating, don't worry I wasn't either. I literallt couldn't sit still for longer than 5 minutes. I used to DIE inside when Tyson would say ok let's do 15minute meditation. Now, I can sit in meditation for an hour and thrive. The reason why I say to meditate is because well firstly meditation allows you to connect with the quantum field (I'll explain more about that in another blog post), and when you enter the quantum field you are able to heal your body, manifest your dreams into reality and also calm your nervous system.

4. Outsource

Outsource as much as you possibly can. Being a control freak will only get you so far, I get that it's hard to hand over tasks to other people, but if you won't do it for yourself, do it for your loved ones - outsourcing allows you to become less stressed and when you're less stressed you can show up better for your family, friends and the world. It also gives other people jobs to do, which in hindsight is beautiful, you are offering others a way to make money. Hiring a nanny, cleaner, housekeeper and all of our staff were the best decisions I could have made. It wasn't super easy to get to this place, but one by one we hired these positions to give me back my time and to also relax. There are times where I think I could just do this myself, but thats not the point - the point is that you are giving yourself the ability to find balance in your life.

5. Be Present

This is the last point because it really is the hardest in my opinion, especially in todays digital world. I'm sitting at a restaurant now and I'm looking up at everyone around me and 90% of people here are on their phones or laptops (including myself). They aren't present in the current situation, they are busy working/talking to friends/doing whatever. But because of the type of world we live in now, its important more than ever to find times to be fully present. Take the time to go to a restaurant device free completely, by yourself or with someone and just sit, look around, smell the air, touch your fingertips. Take the time to go to the beach, put your feet in the sand and feel the granules of sand lightly scratching against your feet. Feel the breeze on your face. Being present always you to create a healthy balance in your life because you're able to take note of what is actually happening in real time. Being present allows you to have deeper conversations, it allows you to connect with other humans, it allows you to think before you react, being present is one of the purest forms of human accomplishments.
